The other day, when I had my hands on another WiP, I was struck by the idea of transferring the current pattern of my WiP to a beanie. Some ideas need testing immediately – and I’m happy I did, because this is one fine beanie!
My youngest loves bling, mud and her hats. Luckily she likes this one, the Annabel Beanie, too. I haven’t been able to convince her to place the flower on either side though, she wants it right in the middle, hah! Anyway, may I present to you the Annabel Beanie pattern. Happy Hooking!
The yarn
I used a little less than two skeins of Drops Nord in color plum from Hobbygarn. There are leftovers from both skeins, that I used to crochet the flower – and then I had just enough to knit new toes onto an old and worn pair of socks. These 170m/skein go a long way. Drops Nord is a somewhat new, delicious sock yarn from Garnstudio. It contains both wool and alpaca which makes the crocheted surface slightly wooly and very soft to the touch. And it keeps you nice and warm!
ANNABEL BEANIE
The Annabel Beanie is a quick and fairly easy make, I spent an evening for the hat and about an hour the next day to make the flower. This pattern is only for the beanie size 4 yrs, The flower is freehand crochet and I didn’t write it down, instead I found a collection of free flower patterns for you to pick from. You will find them below the pattern.
YOU WILL NEED
2 skeins of Drops Nord
A 5.0 mm hook
A tapestry needle for weaving ends
Optionally a 3.0 mm hook and a pretty button for the flower

FLOWER
As I mentioned before, I freestyled the flower and therefore have no pattern for it. However, I did find a lot of links for crocheted flowers, so you can make the one you like the best! My flower is crocheted using a single strand of yarn and a 3mm hook. Size is approximately 5cm across. The flower is sewn onto the beanie with a pretty button in the middle. Attach the flower between rounds 12 and 14, depending on size.
